Our Athletes

The Commonwealth Games have developed dramatically over the years starting with only 400 athletes, 11 countries and 6 sports at the first ever games in 1930. Increasing to 4049 athletes, 71 countries and 16 sports in the last games held in 2006.

The Commonwealth Games is the biggest international multi support event where our athletes are allowed to compete for the Isle of Man as an independent state.  With a population of just over 80,000, the Isle of Man has some world class athletes and boasts an impressive medal tally over the years of four Bronze, one Silver and three Gold, with the most recent being Bronze in shooting and Gold in cycling at the Melbourne games.
