Countdown to Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

Pune 2008

The third Youth Games were held in the Indian city of Pune from 12-18 October 2008, where 71 nations and territories participated in nine sports.

The team who represented the Isle of Man at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune were:


Athletics: Gemma Astin (3000m) and Tom Richmond (800m)

Badminton:  Josh Green (Men’s Singles & Doubles) and Ben Li (Men's Singles & Doubles)

Boxing: Dan Roberts (64kg.Welter Weight)

Shooting: Danielle Letch (Air Pistol) and Dan Shacklock (Clay Target,  Olympic Skeet)

Swimming: Grant Halsall (100m & 200m Backstroke, 50m & 100m Butterfly), Heather Millar (50m & 100m Freestyle) and Olivia Rawlinson (100m & 200m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke, 200m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley)

N.B. All competitors in the Commonwealth Youth Games will be a minimum of 14 and maximum of 18 in the year of competition (i.e, their 18th birthday is during the calendar year in which the Games is held) and a maximum number of 1000 competitors are invited to participate from every Commonwealth Games Association.
