SUPERSTARS (Isle of Man)

Superstars (Isle of Man) is an event based upon the 1970’s TV competition in which sporting stars competed against one another in a series of 8 activities.

The Island competition will as far as possible mirror the original event and will draw upon up to 24 recognised Island athletes who are both able to compete at a high level and who are willing to raise funds for the Commonwealth Games Association (Isle of Man).

The event is being entirely sponsored by Microgaming which means that all funds raised will go directly to the chosen cause.

During the course of Superstars on October 16th, the competitors will face one another in the following events;

1. 100m sprint
2. 800m distance race
3. Football dribbling / control skills
4. 100m swim
5. Cycling time trial
6. Gym tests
7. Agility circuit challenge
8. Badminton racket skills

Competitors will be required to drop out from one of the following four sports (deemed to be their strongest), all others will be compulsory. The opt out sports are; Badminton, 100m swim, Football, Cycling.

There will be both a men’s and a ladies category.

Superstars (Isle of Man) will take place irrespective of the weather conditions on the day. A strict format has been developed which will be adhered to in order to enable all 8 activities to be completed. Swimming will see all 24 competitors coming together whilst the other activities will be undertaken in smaller groups. This is dictated by the booking of the pool at the NSC.
